Changing with the Times...to Stay on the Leading Edge

The manuals produced by the MRGNB are effectively used as quality control tools, whereby the MRGNB publishes its research with reference to the construction, inspection and maintenance of commercial roofs and roofing applications.

Just as the technology behind the materials and applications changes, so too does the reference material. The MRGNB documentation is always in review by the Technical Committee, a group that is devoted to picking up on everything from new products introduced to the market down to subtle changes to the generic makeup in raw materials. Technical Bulletins and ammendments are quite common in this effort to stay up to date and every so often, a complete renovation of one or all of the manuals becomes necessary. The process is time consuming, however it is necessary in order to ensure that all MRGNB members are up-to-date and able to adhere to the same set of standards.
 MRGNB Inspection Manual
The Inspection Manual is required to issue the warranty at job completion. Should the completed job meet the standards set out in the inspection manual, a warranty will be issued. The Contractor is then obligated to return and re-inspect after two years. Historically, if a minor deficiency is found within two years, then the chance of a major failure can be reduced for the 3-20 year range. Then there is a final inspection before the 5 year warranty is up, usually after 4 years.

 MRGNB Roof Maintenance Guide
The maintenance guide sets out what constitutes “maintenance” and what constitutes “warranty” as well as specifying what aspects of the roof are covered under the warranty. In order for the warranty to “stay in place” and remain valid, customers are required to carry out certain maintenance activities on a regular basis, such activities being spelled out in the guide. While it is not necessary to have the original contractor perform the maintenance work, the activities are be carried out by a qualified contractor, in particular a member of the MRGNB to ensure that the warranty status is not jeopardized.

 MRGNB Roofing Specifications
The Master Roofers Guarantee Corporation (or “MRGNB”) is set apart from other roofing organizations via the standards set forth in it’s specification manual, which, when adhered to results in a start of the art product. A roof constructed by a member of the MRGNB can be regarded as a “high end” product, one what will meet and often exceed customer expectations. In the roofing industry, this is referred to as a roof that performs.
